Domestic Partner Registry Introduced

A domestic partner registry was being introduced at a Cleveland city council meeting this past Monday, according to the HRC. This would be a contract existing within Cleveland city limits only, not surrounding cities. I believe that if the city of Cleveland ends up putting this on the books, other cities lying to the West, South, and East would eventually follow suit. For instance, the area I live in is one of the gayest cities in the Cleveland land area, and classified as a Gay Village according to Absolute Astronomy's website. I see no problem passing a measure toward granting domestic registries here, especially since they apply to gay and straight couples alike.

I didn't know, but Cleveland Heights, an eastern city/suburb of Cleveland, has had a domestic partner registry since 2003!

Clicky to read about the impending passage of the registry in the city of Cleveland.
